How to read this ranking

For each private school with 50 or more seniors, we divided the number of UC admission offers its students received by the number of seniors it reported to the state, and multiplied by 100. Across the 198 schools ranked here, UC admitted 9,951 students in fall 2025 out of 26,257 seniors, or 37.9 for every 100. At 28 schools, more than half the senior class was admitted to at least one UC campus over the three falls.

The Berkeley and UCLA numbers are much smaller, and they move a lot from year to year at a school with 60 seniors. The highest three-fall Berkeley figure is 21.3 per 100 seniors, at Geffen Academy at UCLA. We rank on the three-fall average for that reason, and show fall 2025 beside it.

Figures are UC admits per 100 seniors. A dash means UC left a count blank because it was under 3 in at least one fall, so the figure cannot be computed; we do not guess it.

The chart shows the top 15 schools for the campus and county chosen, by admits per 100 seniors over fall 2023 to 2025. A school you search for is added in a second colour if it is not already there.

What this ranking cannot tell you

On our public school pages we compare each school with schools like it, using the share of students from low-income families. We cannot do that here: private schools report only enrollment by grade and staff counts to the state, with no figures on family income or English learners, so there is no public way to say what a private school would be expected to get. A school near the top may owe its place to the families it admits as much as to anything it does in the classroom.

The counts are offers, not students. A senior admitted to three campuses counts once under “any UC” and once under each campus. A figure can also run high if a school’s affidavit undercounts its seniors, which happens at schools that enroll students partway through the year.

How we matched UC’s list to the state’s

UC names a school by its College Board code, and the state by its own code, with no public list linking the two. We matched on the school’s name within its county. Where UC shortens a name (“Saint Ignatius College Prep Sc”), we checked each pair by hand and kept 83 of them; the list of what we accepted and rejected, with the reason for each, is published with the build. Matched schools account for 96.8% of the fall 2025 UC applicants from California private schools. The rest are left out rather than guessed.

Seniors are Grade 12 enrollment from each year’s Private School Affidavit (2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25), paired with UC admits for the fall after (2023, 2024 and 2025). UC leaves a count blank when it is under 3, so Berkeley and UCLA figures are missing at many smaller schools.

Where every number comes from

We downloaded these files ourselves and computed every figure on this page from them. Where a publisher left a value blank for privacy, we left it blank too.
