College counseling questions

How much does a college counselor cost?

By Leo Cao, CEO of Aristo Scholars · Updated

Private college counseling is priced by the hour, by the package or by the month, and the cost depends mostly on how often you meet, how many applications and essays are included, and how long the engagement runs.

At Aristo Scholars the price depends only on your student's grade and how often you meet, never on which counselor you choose. It is well under half what large firms charge, and it is shared on the free first call.

How our pricing works

We share pricing on the free first call, once we know your student’s grade and how often you’d like to meet. It is the same for every counselor and well under half what large firms charge.

What drives the price

  • How often you meet: weekly costs more than every other week.
  • Your student's grade: a senior on deadline needs different work from a 9th grader.
  • What is included: number of applications, essay reviews, response times.
  • How long it runs, and what is billed as an add-on later.

Questions to ask about any quote

Ask whether the price changes by counselor, whether it is fixed once you sign, what is not included, and how cancellation works. At Aristo Scholars the number on your agreement is fixed the day you sign, add-ons such as waitlist letters are priced before you agree to them, and you have three business days to cancel in writing.

Questions families ask

How do I find out what Aristo Scholars costs?
Book the free first call. Once we know your student's grade and how often you would like to meet, we walk you through the options and the price, and the agreement puts it in writing before you pay. Every counselor costs the same.
Is the first call free?
Yes. The first call is a free one-on-one video call with the counselor you choose. You leave knowing what the work covers, what it does not and the price.
