How to write UC activities descriptions UCLA readers notice
How a former UCLA reader suggests writing UC activity entries around your actions and results, with accurate numbers where useful and your own language.
SourceBased on what we at Aristo learned from a former UCLA admissions reader.

A former reader in UCLA's admissions office, who read thousands of first-year files across engineering, the life sciences, the arts and architecture, has a blunt view of the UC activities section: most entries name a role and stop. Orchestra member, volunteer, team member. The reader learns that you belonged to something and nothing about what you did there.
That gap costs students more than they think. A reader scoring leadership or initiative has only the entry in front of them, and a bare title gives them nothing to credit, so a student who did a great deal can score like one who merely showed up. The fix is short, and the reader's own example shows it.
