The major
How to choose an intended major for college applications
How to choose an intended major that grows out of activities you already do, and why a late change of direction needs evidence beyond the name of a new field.
SourceBased on what we at Aristo learned from the Stanford admissions office.

Admissions readers see one pattern constantly, according to the Stanford office we learned from: a student who decides around the start of junior year that she needs a better story. A student with years of mock trial and student government reads that medicine is competitive and prestigious, enrols in a summer biology program and starts planning to declare neuroscience.
By the time applications are due, the file holds three years of law and politics and four months of science. The family sees ambition. What the reader sees is the subject of the next section, and it is rarely what the family intended.
